About us

The Forest Community is a non-profit organization registered in the Associations Register of the Republic of Croatia. The NGO was established in 2013 with the following objective:

"Promotion, development and improvement of life in harmony with nature, protection of animals and the preservation of natural, non-material and cultural heritage in the Republic of Croatia" (extract from the Statute of the Forest Community)

Our goals are to live in harmony with our environment, respect nature and wildlife without exploitation and set an example to others of the possibility of a natural lifestyle. We strive to compile and preserve knowledge and skills of our ancestors that are nowadays almost forgotten. We aim to be self-sustaining and self-sufficient respecting nature and its resources.

We are aware that we are part of nature and that everything in nature is connected. As conscious beings, we take responsibility for our actions and we seek harmony. We aim to live a simple life based on true human values such as respect, trust and tolerance.

On the practical side, we bake our own bread, grow our own food, we make our own soaps, cleaning agents and cosmetics, we use edible wild plants in our daily meals, we practice shiatsu on humans and animals…. and that is just the beginning of our story….

We would like to share our knowledge and skills with nature loving people, but most of all we would like to bring our natural way of life closer to children- to show them they have a choice and can live a different life from that promoted on TV and in many urban areas.
